Liberatory Supervision:

Reframing Neurodivergence

In Practice

A closed group supervision space designed for therapists who want to deepen their neurodiversity-affirming practice.

Welcome! I'm pleased you're here and interested in this group supervision opportunity. I appreciate that we all need to ensure we're accessing the right supervision and so below you'll find information on this page, detailing what you can expect from the Liberatory Supervision: Reframing Neurodivergence in Practice group supervision. To navigate to a particular section, click the hyperlinks below:

Deepening Neurodivergent-Affirming Practice: A Justice-Oriented Supervision Space

This is a new closed group supervision space designed with a semi-structured format, for therapists committed to moving beyond compliance-based models of neurodivergence and into a practice rooted in the Neurodiversity Paradigm (Walker, 2014), Disability Justice (Sins Invalid, 2005), and intersectionality theory (Crenshaw, 1989).

It is a space for those who want to unlearn pathologising frameworks, challenge systemic ableism, and deepen their understanding of neurodivergence through a social justice lens.

Grounded in the above principles, this space invites therapists to critically examine the language, frameworks, and practices that shape their work. Together, we will explore the power of language—not just as a tool for describing neurodivergence but as a means of liberation, resistance, and self-definition.

This is not just supervision—it is a transformative group space for therapists to explore, unlearn, and rebuild practice in alignment with justice, liberation, and authentic neurodivergent experience beyond the whiteness of 'neurodiversity-lite' (Neumeier, 2018; den Houting, 2018).

What is the commitment?

This is a group supervision with a commitment of 6 sessions over 6 months.

  • Small Group – Ensuring rich discussion and connection.

  • Online & Accessible – Join from anywhere, designed with neurodivergent needs in mind.

  • Session Themes – Each month, we will explore different topics such as power, privilege, epistemic injustice, de-pathologisation, and advocacy.

Each session will be structured similarly, to build familiarity and predictability for members.

Each session includes:

  • Theme-based Discussion – Exploring critical topics in neurodivergent-affirming therapy bringing in:

WhatsApp Community

Alongside the monthly supervision sessions, community members will have access to an ongoing WhatsApp community—a dedicated space for continued reflection, resource-sharing, and peer support. This community provides a place to:

  • Discuss key themes between sessions.

  • Share relevant articles, books, and experiences.

  • Offer and receive support in real time.

  • Stay connected with like-minded therapists committed to deepening their practice.

Engagement is optional, but this space is designed to enrich your learning and provide a network of solidarity beyond the monthly group supervision spaces.

I'm committed to disability justice, and will strive to ensure accessibility is prioritised throughout. This commitment is also reflected in my approach to pricing.

In order to make the space accessible to people with disabilities, key accessibility considerations include:

  • Closed captions available on all zoom calls

  • Inclusion of spoken and written visual descriptions during sessions

  • Provision of visuals prior to sessions

  • Screen-reader compliant resources

  • Options to contribute asynchronously, including using chat functions and mentimeters

  • Invitations to bring regulating tools into the space, e.g., fidgets.

Accessibility Commitment

How will this support my practice?

*Note, the session content is still being finalised and as such, some wording may alter. However, the groups focus will remain on moving neurodiversity-affirmation beyond 'nd-lite' to embrace Disability Justice and intersectionality theory.

The Liberatory Supervision: Reframing Neurodivergence in Practice group supervision space will provide a structured yet flexible environment to deepen your understanding of neurodivergence, Disability Justice, and intersectional practice.

Through critical reflection, collective problem-solving, and guided discussions, you’ll explore new language, frameworks, and strategies to support neurodivergent clients in a way that is affirming, ethical, and sustainable.

You’ll also have the opportunity to explore real-world challenges in your work—whether it’s navigating workplace barriers, advocating for systemic change, or unlearning pathologising models—within a supportive community of like-minded practitioners.

This is a space to move beyond compliance-based approaches and cultivate a practice rooted in justice, liberation, and authentic neurodivergent experience.

Each monthly session will broadly follow a theme, currently* the themed topics are:

  • Month 1: Creating a Brave Space: Foundations of Neurodiversity-Affirming and Anti-Oppressive Practice

  • Month 2: Power, Privilege, and the Double Empathy Problem in Therapy

  • Month 3: De-pathologising and Reframing Neurodivergence in Therapy

  • Month 4: Inclusive Therapy and Creating Sustainable Practices

  • Month 5: Advocacy, Boundaries, and Workplace Challenges

  • Month 6: Building a Collective and Moving Forward

This is for you if:

  • You are a registered therapist working with neurodivergent people and want to deepen your practice.

  • You are committed to or ready to begin committing to neurodiversity-affirming, anti-oppressive, and justice-oriented approaches.

  • You are committed to unlearning pathologising models, challenging systemic ableism, and exploring new ways of supporting neurodivergent clients.

  • You recognise or are willing to understand that whiteness, colonialism and white supremacy continue to influence Western therapy models and practices which is harmful to intersectional identities and multiply marginalised groups.

  • You are open to self-reflection and critical discussion about power, privilege, and intersectionality in therapy.

  • You want to be part of a small, supportive group of like-minded professionals engaging in ongoing learning and growth.

  • You are ready to commit to 6 sessions of deep, reflective supervision that will help to transform your approach to practice.

If you’re unsure, feel free to reach out for a quick chat to see if this space aligns with your needs.

Creating Community

In joining the Liberatory Supervision: Reframing Neurodivergence in Practice group supervision, we are tasked with building a space where members can interact with the invitations to reflect, learn and deepen their practice in line with the Neurodiversity Paradigm, Disability Justice and intersectionality, authentically. This community-building space is welcome to everyone, regardless of their intersectional identity. However, it will be a space whereby some members hold privileges that others do not.

With this in mind, we will be working to foster a Brave Space (Arao and Clemens, 2013), one which require us to consider our differences, where it may or may not be relevant for us all to speak or share opinion on a given topic, and one which will foster and encourage repair and accountability.

My logo design for this community has been chosen mindfully, to represent the following:

  • Neurodiversity infinity symbol:

    • The members of the space are likely to have shared values related to neurodiversity-affirming practice.

    • Infinity means no end, including to our own learning and unpacking of our biases, ones which shape our ability to show up in an affirming way within neurodivergent communities and our work. An important part of social justice work is sustainability.

  • An imperfect broken circle:

    • It is broken because we will make mistakes along this journey, including within the group. However, holding ourselves and one another accountable and actively repairing together, will continue the circle by repairing harm and support our learning and the unpacking of our biases.

    • As I said above, social justice work, learning, unlearning and relearning, all require committed and sustainable action. I believe it was Nova Reid who once said there is no certificate to say 'I'm anti-racist now'. As with anti-racism, we could argue that there is no end point to dismantling all systems of oppression which perpetuate harm to the neurodivergent communities we work within, or are part of.

  • The oval holder

    • This is a supervision space which intends to community-build, one which I hope will offer containment as we navigate all of the above. I hope it will do this through:

      • A supportive, reflective space where members engage in collective learning.

      • A place where members honour each other’s lived experiences and work toward justice-focused, anti-oppressive practice.

      • A space that centres neurodivergent voices and challenges traditional power structures

      • An environment where trust, respect, and accountability allow for meaningful dialogue and transformation.

Make Room, Share Room

We come together as equals, ready to listen, learn, and contribute with humility. No single person is the authority here. Engage in ways that support the group rather than taking from it, and be mindful of when to step forward and when to step back to create space for others. Check out Blair Imani's visual here for some helpful advice on navigating conversations.

Honour the Wisdom of Lived Experience

Personal experiences—whether rooted in culture, community, embodiment, ancestry, or self-discovery—are valuable forms of knowledge. Professional titles and academic credentials do not outweigh the expertise gained through lived reality. Every person’s path to healing and understanding is valid.

Recognise Power, Privilege, and Access

We all move through the world with different levels of privilege and access. Stay aware of how this shapes conversations, and be willing to step aside or uplift voices that are often unheard. This is a space to listen deeply and shift power when needed.

Address Harm with Accountability and Care

Mistakes will happen; what matters is how we respond. When harm occurs, we approach it with honesty, care, and a commitment to repair—without resorting to shame or punishment. Growth and accountability are acts of care.

Show Up as Your Full Self

There is no expectation of perfection or performance in this space. Be present in whatever way feels right for you—whether that means resting, eating, moving, turning off your camera or communicating through the chat function. Authenticity is valued over appearances. Assume good intent, but also be open to growth and feedback.

Commit to Justice and Collective Liberation

This space is grounded in values of liberation, disability justice, abolition, and anti-oppression. Engage with these principles in mind, respecting the need for structural and systemic change alongside individual growth.

Protect Privacy and Confidentiality

What is shared in this space stays in this space. Respect the privacy of others by not sharing personal stories or sensitive information outside this group.

FAQ's

Can I carry on with my individual clinical supervision arrangements if I join the Liberatory Supervision Group?

Yes! We are going to be thinking systemically and structurally and whilst you will be able to reflect on individual client work, or hold people in mind during group supervisions, it isn't a place to work through client-specific situations. Continuing with your individual clinical supervision arrangements would be complementary to your learning in the Liberatory Supervision Group.

I really want to join the Liberatory Supervision Group, but I don't think I can afford it.

I understand that everyone has different financial means and that these can change month to month. I operate using a Green Bottle Sliding Scale Method and can facilitate a few lower cost sliding scale places in this community. Let's discuss, get in touch with me.

Who is the Liberatory Supervision Group for?

This space is for registered therapists who want to deepen their neurodivergent-affirming practice while integrating disability justice, intersectionality, and anti-oppressive approaches. It’s designed for those who are ready to critically examine traditional therapy models, unlearn pathologising frameworks, and develop new ways of working that honour neurodivergent experiences.

Do I have to be neurodivergent to join?

No! This space is open to all therapists (regardless of neurotype) who are committed to learning, reflecting, and engaging in affirming practice. That said, the space is explicitly neurodivergent-affirming and centred, meaning that traditional clinical frameworks may be challenged, and neurodivergent experiences will be prioritised rather than 'othered'.

Do I have to commit to all 6 sessions?

Yes, this is a closed group, meaning participants commit to the full 6-month series. This structure ensures continuity, trust, and deeper collective learning, allowing us to build a reflective, reflexive and supportive space over time. By committing to all 6 sessions, you gain the full benefit of sustained supervision, with each session building on previous discussions and themes.

What if I miss a supervision session?

If you subscribe to join the Liberatory Supervision Group and miss a session, you’ll still receive any resources or key takeaways from the discussion. You will also still have access to the Whats App Community discussions and reflections. However, due to the nature of live supervision, sessions won’t be recorded to maintain privacy and confidentiality. If you know in advance that you can’t attend, please let me know!

How do I know I’m ready to be part of this kind of supervision space?

I guess to some extent, you don't, but ultimately I believe that what you need is a willingness to sit with the discomfort that is undoubtedly going to accompany the learning. We could also ask ourselves, 'what informs thoughts or feelings about 'being ready' and how can we disrupt those if in holding back we avoid engaging with important learning and unlearning?' Happy to chat if you want to book a discovery call through my 'book online' page.
